IN 1893, SHE TOOK A TEACHING JOB NEAR THE NORTHERN END OF THE BITTER ROOT VALLEY, She was PRESBYTERIAN. NELLY AND HER SISTER, CHARLOTTE, LEFT FOR AMERICA IN THE EARLY SPRING OF 1889. SHE WAS 23 YRS. AND CHARLOTTE WAS 25 YRS. OLD. THEY TOOK THE LOWEST PRICED PASSAGE AVAILABLE. SHORTLY AFTER DOCKING IN AMERICA, THEY WERE ON A TRAIN RIDING WEST THROUGH SETTLED AMERICA, FINALLY ARRIVING AT MISSOULA. THE DAY AFTER ARRIVING IN MISSOULA, CHARLOTTE MARRIED SAM GARRICK.

FOR THIS REASON IT HAS NOT BEEN POSSIBLE TO IDENTIFY ALL OF THE CHILDREN OF THE FAMILY WHICH WAS KNOWN TO BE QUITE LARGE. Children were: JACOB WORKMAN.
